I’ve spent hours upon hours watching makeup tutorials on Instagram. They are fascinating. But there will never be a day in my life—I don’t care if it’s my child’s wedding or my 50th wedding anniversary—when I spend that much time or effort applying makeup.
I do, however, enjoy looking like I give a care about my appearance—I’m sure one can achieve this without makeup, but I find using these products a relatively easy route.
Most of these come in various shades and should work for multiple skin tones. A light foundation doubles as sunscreen, and filling in brows can single-handedly create a polished effect. Add a bit of lip color and you’re ready, in just five minutes, for anything.
True Botanicals Renew Pure Radiance oil, $110
This oil is the perfect base for foundation or tinted sunscreen. There’s also a version for acne-prone skin and another for rosacea prone skin.
True Botanicals Everyday Sheer Coverage, SPF 20, $40
Don’t let the name fool you, the coverage is more substantial than you might think. I use the medium tint and it gives a sun kissed effect.
Benefit Cosmetics Goof Proof brow pencil, $24
This pencil looks natural and it really is difficult to mess it up. The attached brush makes blending a breeze.
E.L.F. Cosmetics 3-in-1 mascara, $3
The shape of this brush separates lashes efficiently and allows for a little extra product on the outside-edge lashes for a bit of a cat eye effect without the annoyance of eyeliner. The formula is mid-weight, doesn’t clump, and really stays.
Lila b. Divine Duo Lip + Cheek in Sassy, $36
The name of this color is a propos because does match a sassy mood. Add a dot to your cheeks for extra sass. For every day wear, try b. true, and for a perfectly classic red lip, go with b. fearless—both are also great on cheeks.
