Poufs might seem a bit dorm-roomesque, especially since you can now find them at Target in about every pastel shade of faux fur you could imagine. Nothing against any of that—every dorm room deserves a pouf and Target is obviously wonderful. But these little modular seats/tables also have a place in a grown-up’s house.
The leather and wool versions of the Moroccan pouf have a more sophisticated heft than their big box counterparts. Plus, they’re extremely practical, since they can be moved anywhere or serve as a table—either by placing a tray on top or simply placing you drink directly on the pouf. They’re also handy footrests.
A pouf is also relatively non-committal, so it’s an opportunity to experiment with color and texture with the freedom to send the thing off to college with your kid if it doesn’t work out for you aesthetics-wise.
Below are some ideas for styling a pouf in your living room, bedroom or outdoor area—and of course any of these would work in a dormitory as well. Keep scrolling to shop for poufs!
